Chapter 7. Size Does Matter

The size of your plants matters when it comes to how big your hydroponic farm is. Large plants need more space between them to grow healthy. Bigger plants might need their own container rather than sharing a large one like peas or strawberries can. If you want to grow corn they have to be spaced so that they can pollinate. Don’t mix small and large plants in the same place or the large plants will rob the smaller ones of the nutrients and light they need. Plants under 24” can share the same container. As you see, you’ll have to plan carefully according to which plants you want to farm.

What size do you want your garden? You can have a garden as small as a tabletop or a large one that has its own support structure depending on how big a crop you want to grow. If you are farming for yourself you won’t need as large a system as if you would if you were farming for a family.
